How To Quit Your Job in Three Easy Steps

quit your job

I know this sounds like a complete farce, but if I had known then what I know now. I spent 4 years in a job that I hated. It wasn’t the work, the people, or even the act of going to work. The source of my misery was the terrible management team, and the lack of respect for my personal time. I know, total first-world problems. However, I knew there was something better out there for me. I also knew that I had already used  my once-in-a-lifetime great job card already. The economy crash of 2008 hit that company hard, and I was laid off as a result.

So, I’d spent the better part of 5 years floundering around trying to make ends meet without losing my mind. The way I kept sane was things like this blog and always looking for a way to go into business for myself. This was my only option for improving my job situation. I had good bosses and bad bosses in the past. I was just done with bosses all the way around. “There are none righteous, not one”.

But You Said Not to Quit Our Jobs…

You’d be correct. I did say that around a year or so ago. But remember, I said don’t quit…yet. Some recent circumstances, both in my own life and that of a close friend, have shown me that if you have any skills at all, it’s possible to quit your job TODAY. Now, there might be a bit of hiccup in pay, but if you’re frugal for the month, you should be okay and be able to fall back in stride within a few weeks. It’s highly possible with just a few easy steps.

Oh, how I wish I had known this then. I found out quite by accident when some things at my job began to go south. About 3 weeks prior to my quitting the position, I began looking for a way to replace my income should the inevitable occur. Let’s get into what I found out!

The Easiest Way to Make Money Online

The easiest way is by providing services. Well, that’s the easiest way to get started. I’m sure some would argue the easiest way is to make maximum profit with the least amount of work. I could agree with that, but I’m not there yet. Odds are, neither are you. Being able to make money with affiliate programs, blogging a little bit, etc. takes not only skills and knowledge, but a proven method.

Finding that method often entails having the time to put in while still making money. Making money online is not a get rich quick thing, but we often turn to it in desperation because we see others succeeding. It doesn’t look that hard, and it doesn’t have to be, but it does take time. If you’re working full-time outside your home, time is something you have very little of.

Hence, this easy three-step method to quit your job, and create more time for yourself and your online endeavors. If you do it right, you’ll be getting paid and still have time left over to explore more ways to make money that take less effort. What are we waiting for? Let’s go!

Quitting Your Job in 3 Easy Steps

  1. Assessing your skills and hunting for work. – Working online takes skills, but you might be surprised that it’s not all about writing, graphics, and selling. What do you want to do? What are you good at? Here’s a page of resources to help you find work online.
  2.  Replace your income.  – Now, you need to look for work.  I got started on oDesk. You need to find enough work to replace your current income. You can do this with either just one job or taking on several clients and performing a number of different tasks.
  3. Quit Your Job. – If you need to work a notice, go ahead. Even though you are your own new boss, it’s always good not to burn bridges. Once you have replaced your income, you can be free.

You’re Crazy

Yep. If I read this a year ago, I wouldn’t have believed it either. Having just come through this situation by accident with success, I never knew it was this easy. I don’t expect you to listen to me. I can’t even get people I know in real life to listen to this.

The mailman asked me the other day what I do from home. He has a 14-year-old daughter and they lost their wife/mother two years ago. He works ALL the time. He said he’d like to find something to do from home. I think the next time I see him, I’ll give him the web address to this blog.

If I Can Do This, So Can You

I’m living proof. If you’d like to connect with me personally you can do so through the Facebook Group for this blog. I would love nothing more than to hear from you or win a million dollars, so stop by and we can chat!
